Theatre festival “Midwinter Night’s Dream” will bring to Tallinn four internationally renowned productions that all try to offer the audience someone else’s point of view.
Every two years starting from 2000 Tallinn City Theatre organises an international theatre festival named the Midwinter Night’s Dream. Traditionally the festival takes place during the last five days of December. The idea of organising a festival was born after the City Theatre had moved into its freshly renovated new wing. The theatre, which until then had to cope with a single black box seating a hundred spectators, suddenly had a unique complex with multiple venues at its disposal – perfect for inviting guest performers from all over the world.
Performances of 2016 year: EXHIBIT B (ZA, BRETT BAILEY), HAVE A GOOD DAY! (LT, VAIVA GRAINYTĖ, LINA LAPELYTĖ, RUGILĖ BARZDŽIUKAITĖ & OPEROMANIJA), MARTYR (RU, KIRILL SEREBRENNIKOV), NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN (LV, JĀNIS BALODIS).
The number of visitors was around 3000. RusMedia provided services related to the Russian language communication in cooperation with JLP agency.
Festival’s curator is Paavo Piik, Tallinn City Theatre dramaturge.
